Monday night, at Sam Smith Stadium, the Forrest City JV Mustangs picked up where the varsity Mustangs left off Friday night.
Last Friday, the Mustangs rolled over Marianna 46-0. Monday night, the JV Mustangs rolled over Brinkley 33-0 to improve to 2-0 for the year.
"We got to play a lot of kids in both games," said Forrest City Coach Donnie Willis.
Against Marianna Friday, the Mustang defense especially shined, holding the Trojans to 46 total yards for the game. At the half, Marianna had minus one yard of offense.
Offensively, the Mustangs chewed up 392 total yards and 11 first downs.
Andrew Embry scored four of the Mustang touchdowns against Marianna while his little brother, Cory scored once. Tae Chism added two touchdowns in the shutout win.
Forrest City plays at Osceola Friday night.
The Forrest City Mustang golf team finished second in a tri-match played Monday at Marion.
Marion won the event with a round of 178 while the Mustangs finished with a team round of 197 and Paragould was third with a 220.
Brad Gill shot a 40 to take individial boys' medalist honors for Marion while Brittney Aughenbaugh took the girls' medalist honors for the Lady Patriots with a 51.
Katie Ramsey, Forrest City's only girl golfer, shot a 58.
Sawyer Ramsey finished with 43 to lead Forrest City while Brian Hacker finished with a 45. Cody Flowers had a 53 and Derrick McCollum carded a 56. Doug Drake finished with a 62 and Steven Holmes had a 69.
The Mustangs will play at Blytheville Thursday.
The Forrest City seventh and eighth-grade Mustang football teams will host Wynne tonight at Sam Smith Stadium.
The seventh-graders will kick off at 5 p.m., while the eighth-grade Mustangs will play at 6:30 p.m.
Also on tap tonight, at the Sports Complex, the East Arkansas Youth Football Association will play two games beginning at 6 p.m., on the outfield of Field 8.
Admission is $2 for adult and $1 for students.
