Thedrel C. Cureton

Mrs. Thedrel C. Cureton, age 87, of Forrest City, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at her home.

Mrs. Cureton was born July 25, 1916, in Pontotoc, Miss., the daughter of Gary M. Conlee and Mary Caroline Foster Conlee. She worked in the Child Nutrition Program with the Forrest City Public Schools for 30 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cureton married Ellis Cureton in 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1992. She is survived by a son, Manning Cureton of Forrest City; a brother, Dennis Conlee of Marion; one sister, Melba Garron of Little Rock; and three grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Cureton, in 1986.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Cureton on Tuesday, April 20, 2004. Burial followed in Forrest Park Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.


Michiyo David

Mrs. Michiyo David, age 80, of Omaha, Neb. and formerly of Forrest City, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

Mrs. David was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Fukuoka, Japan, and was the daughter of Heihachi Matsumoto and Sumi Oguma Matsumoto. She lived in Forrest City until moving to Omaha in 2001, and was a floral designer, a member of the Garden Club and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. David married Bill David in 1954, and he survives her along with two daughters, Kay Hughes of Omaha and Sandi Platz of Olathe, Kan.; a brother, Tsuruhiko Matsumoto of Osaka, Japan; two sisters, Chizuko Matsumoto and Nobuko Matsumoto both of Fukuoka, Japan and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. David will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 10:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church with burial following in Loughridge Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


Alvin A. Engler Sr.

Mr. Alvin A. Engler Sr., age 84, of Wheatley, died on Sunday, April 18, 2004.

Mr. Engler was born July 13, 1919, in Posey, the son of the late Samuel Engler and Mary Gehring Engler. Mr. Engler was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church, a retired rice and soybean farmer. He served in the United States Marines in World War II.

Mr. Engler married Edith Marie Tichenor in 1947, and she survives him along with a son, Buck Engler of Beebe; two daughters, Donna Jean Ward of Carlisle and Anita Wells of Paragould; two brothers, Walter Engler of Wheatley and A.C. "Dutch" Engler of Heber Springs; three sisters, Hilda Rhein of Stuttgart, Elizabeth Rhein of Mountain Home and Tillie Ellis of Rockwood, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Engler will be held on Thursday, April 22, at 2 p.m., at the One Accord Baptist Church in Posey with Bro. Carl Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow in Posey Cemetery. Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home in Brinkley is in charge of all arrangements.

Irene Preston Moye Woodrome

Mrs. Irene Preston Moye Woodrome, age 86, of Marianna, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

Mrs. Woodrome was born April 12, 1918, in Lee County, and was a member of Walls Chapel M.B. Church.

Mrs. Woodrome is survived by a daughter, Carol Billingsly and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Vernon Woodrome.

Funeral services for Mrs. Woodrome will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at 10 a.m., in the Chapel of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of Marianna. Burial will follow in Marianna Memorial Park.
