Xavior Johnson

Mr. Xavior Johnson, age 37, of Forrest City, died Thursday, April 22, 2004.

Mr. Johnson was born March 1, 1967, in Forrest City, the son of James Johnson Jr. and Aretha Doby. He was a 1985 graduate of Forrest City High School and attended East Arkansas Community College where he was the captain of the EACC intramural All-star basketball team. Mr. Johnson joined the United States Marine Corp, served for three years and received an honorable discharge. He was also employed at Medtronic Sofa Danek in Memphis.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Monica M. Johnson of Memphis; three sons, Xavior Johnson Jr., Corry Phillips and Montavious Phillips all of Memphis; a daughter, Ashley Caradine of Memphis; his mother of Forrest City; his father of Haynes; by four sisters, Tina R. Doby of Forrest City, Tonya D. Bacon of Washington D.C., Wanda Dudley of South Bend, Ind. and Dawn Davis of Carolton, Texas; four brothers, Terry B. Doby of Forrest City, Darrell V. Doby of Torrance, Calif., Christopher Johnson of North Carolina and Michael Hampton of Oklahoma and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Wolfe and Mr. and Mrs. Jethro McCoy.

Visitation for Mr. Johnson will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2004, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the N.J. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Memphis. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2004, at 12 p.m., at the Greater Community Temple in Memphis with Pastor Brandon B. Porter officiating. Burial will follow in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.


Infant Moore

The infant boy of Michael Rogers of Memphis and Alea Moore of Forrest City, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock.

The infant is survived by his parents; a brother, Eric Brandon Jr. of Forrest City; maternal grandparents, Cornelius Moore and LeaVerdia Moore both of Forrest City; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Rogers of Memphis; two maternal great-grandmothers, Rev. Versie P. Easter of Memphis and Martha Moore of Forrest City; a maternal grandfather, Rev. John Easter of Marianna and a maternal great-great-grandmother Ethel Howard of Forrest City.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Casteel Cemetery. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


Verla O'Neal Brown Najewski

Mrs. Verla O'Neal Brown Najewski, age 78, of Forrest City, died Monday, April 26, 2004 at her home.

Mrs. Najewski was born June 18, 1925, in Caldwell, the daughter of Arch G. Brown and Maude Deese Brown. She lived in Forrest City for most of her life and was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Mrs. Najewski married Frank L. Najewski in 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Linda K. Wood of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. and Donna M. Gay of Forrest City; five sisters, Pauline Smith of Indianapolis, Ind., Gloria Erickson of Duarte, Calif., Barbara Hunter of Carmel, Ind., Jane Roberts of Jonesboro and Glenda Parsons of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a brother, Donald Brown of Beebe and one granddaughter.

Visitation for Mrs. Najewski will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home with burial following in Hughes Cemetery.
