Mrs. Linda Bennett Masserie, age 60, died Saturday, April 3, 2004. She was a research assistant for Houston, Texas city council member Addie Wiseman and a member of West University Baptist Church.
Mrs. Masserie is survived by her husband, Joseph Masserie; two sons, John Todd Bennett and Frank Jimenez; five grandchildren and several other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Masserie were held on Wednesday,
April 7, 2004, in the Chapel of Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home
in Bellaire, Texas.
Mrs. Ezra Stegall, age 101, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
Mrs. Stegall, born Jan. 27, 1903, in Tishimingo, Miss., was the daughter of Finus Stegall and Rebecca Warren Stegall and was a member of Salem M.B. Church for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Stegall is survived by a son, R.Z. Kemp of Mt. Clinton, Mich., a sister, Annie M. Stegall of Forrest City; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband X. L. Kemp.
Visitation for Mrs. Stegall will be held on Friday, April 9,
2004, from noon to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at
1 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Cross Street with Rev. Sherman
Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
Mr. Harry Martin Wright, age 71, of Palestine, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Wright, born May 9, 1932, in Addison, Ala., was the son of Homer Wright and Mary Hill Wright. He lived in Palestine for most of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Wright was also a member of the F.R.A., the Lions Club and was a former member of the Palestine City Council. He was a member of the Goodwin Baptist Church.
In 1953 Mr. Wright married Betty Sue Bryant and she preceded him in death in 1971. In 1972 he married Virginia Steinbeck and she survives him along with three sons, Harold Wright and Bradley Wright, both of Palestine, and Charley Wright of Wellford, S.C.; four daughters, Alma Wright of Palestine, Roxanne Pruitt and Pam Deen both of Marion and Gloria Hooker of Forrest City; two brothers, Henry Wright and James Wright, both of Jasper, Ala.; four sisters, Geraldine Sorrell of Clarksdale, Miss., Betty Faye Jones of West Helena, Alphie Mae Jones of Melwood, Mary Alice Rose of Wabash; and 14 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Floyd Wright and a brother, Bob Wright.
Visitation for Mr. Wright will be held on Friday, April 9, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at 10 a.m. in Steven's Chapel with burial following in Forrest Park Cemetery.
