Rev. Alfred Reid Cullum

Rev. Alfred Reid Cullum, age 73, of Forrest City, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at his daughter's home in Forrest City.

Rev. Cullum was born June 7, 1931, in Little Rock, the son of Elbert Cullum and Sybil Cullum. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as a pastor in churches in Arkansas, New Mexico, Florida and Texas since 1951.

Rev. Cullum married Veda Lou Harris and she preceded him in death in 1992. He married Helen Cowan in 1996 and she survives him along with two sons, James Timothy Cullum of Wynne and Alfred Reid Cullum II of Memphis; two daughters, Opal Marie Chapman of Forrest City and Cynthia Cheri London of North Little Rock; a sister, JoAnn Biggs of North Little Rock; and four grandchildren.

Visitation for Rev. Cullum will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., at First Baptist Church on Rosser Street. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander at 3 p.m. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


Ernestine Jones

Mrs. Ernestine Jones, age 81, of Palo Alto, Calif. and formerly of Forrest City, died Monday, July 26, 2004, in Palo Alto, Calif.

Mrs. Jones was born July 22, 1923. She is survived by a sister, Christine Sanders of Palo Alto, Calif. and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at 1 p.m., at Shady Grove Cemetery with Rev. Theo Walker officiating. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
