Mrs. Vera Lee Allen, age 86, of Forrest City, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
She was born May 30, 1918, in Madison.
Mrs. Allen is survived by three sons, Vester Allen Jr. of Benton, Settle D. Allen of Little Rock and Izear Allen Sr. of Forrest City; four daughters, Erma Allen and Ellen Hoskins both of St. Louis, Mo., Josephine Cobbs of Little Rock and Glean Dean Ferrell of Forrest City; a sister, Virgie Lee Williams of Palestine; 32 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Allen will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5,
2004, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services
will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Rising
Sun M.B. Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will
follow in Casteel Cemetery.
Mrs. Cynthia Renee Alexander Simon, age 40, of Marion, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Simon was born Oct. 7, 1963, the daughter of Reuben Alexander and Virginia Hendrix Alexander. She was a housewife and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Marion.
Mrs. Simon is survived by her husband, David Simon of the home; two sons, George Bailey Jr. of Batesville and Jamie Bailey of Marion; a daughter, Amanda Derrick of Marion; her parents, Reuben and Terry Alexander of Marianna and Howard and Virginia Lancaster of Marion; two brothers, Gary Alexander and Trey Alexander both of Marianna; two sisters, Mindy Alexander of Marianna and Crystal Atkinson of Helena; and two grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Simon will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at 4 p.m. graveside at Moro Oak Grove Cemetery in Moro with Bro. Lee Roberts officiating and Bro. Ricky Needham assisting.
