Mr. James Cole, age 58, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Cole was born May 21, 1946, in Forrest City, the son of Roscoe Cole and Mary Williams Cole. He lived in Forrest City for most of his life, was retired from the Forrest City Police Department, a Vietnam veteran and a Baptist.
Mr. Cole married Joyce Busby in 1968 and she survives him along with a son, Michael Cole of Forrest City; one daughter, Kathy Cook of Palestine; a brother, Harvey Cole of Forrest City; a sister, Barbara Booker of Forrest City and four grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Cole will be held on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held graveside in Hughes Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at 10:30 a.m.
Ms. Laura Mae Ethridge, age 80, of Forrest City, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at the Wynwood Nursing Home in Wynne.
Ms. Ethridge was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Arkansas. She was the daughter of Jim Ethridge and Trannie Lou Nesmith Ethridge. She made her home in the Forrest City area for most of her life and worked for Sanyo for 22 years and was a Baptist.
Ms. Ethridge is survived by a daughter, Linda Ethridge White of Forrest City; three brothers, James Ethridge of Colt, Homer Ethridge of Forrest City and Walter Ethridge of Caldwell; two sisters, Christine Dunn and Esteen Howell both of Memphis. She is also survived by two grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Ms. Ethridge will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mr. Johnny Neeley, age 55, of Little Rock, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Neeley was born March 30, 1949, in Piggott, the son of Lester Neeley and Olive Pollock Neeley. He was a 1967 graduate of Piggott High School, attended Southern Baptist College and graduated from Arkansas State University with a masters degree. He was attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was employed by the Little Rock School District as principal at the J.A. Fair High School and was a Baptist. Mr. Neeley was also a member of the Arkansas Education Association and a former member of the Lions Club and Crowley's Ridge Girl Scout Council.
Mr. Neeley is survived by his wife, Cheryl Janice Thomas Neeley of Colt; a son, Anthony Sloan Jarrett of Wynne; a daughter, Angela Shea Barron of Wynne; two half-brothers, Terry Neeley of Donathan, Mo. and Gary Verdier of Florissant, Mo., and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held for Mr. Neeley on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne, with Rev. Carter Grindstaff officiating.
