John Eldon Elliott

Mr. John Eldon Elliott, age 47, of Sarah, Miss., died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

Mr. Elliott, a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church in Southaven, Miss. and a retired welder. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Howe Elliott of Sarah, Miss.; a son, Steve Elliott of Russellville; his parents George and Melba Elliott of Madison; a sister, Mary Ann Townsend of Madison; eight brothers, George Elliott Jr., of New Bern, N.C., Dude Elliott, Curtis Elliott and Jack Elliott, all of Jonesboro, Timothy Elliott, Harold Elliott and Wayne Elliot, all of Trumann and Michael Elliott of Forrest City; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Elliott will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Surrette Cemetery, Arkabutla, Miss.


Jerry Pat Whittenton

Mr. Jerry Pat Whittenton, age 70, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mr. Whittenton was born April 21, 1933, in Forrest City, the son of Joseph C. Whittenton and Zelma Royal Whittenton. He lived in Forrest City for all of his life, was a veteran of the United States Navy, retired from AP&L, a member of the Moose Lodge, active in the J.C. Ball Program and was a Baptist.

Mr. Whittenton is survived by a son, Terry Whittenton of Forrest City; one step-son, Bart Calvert of Ward; a step-daughter, Tammy Headley of Forrest City; two sisters, Doris Halbert of Forrest City and Mary O'Kelly of Protho Junction; a brother, R.H. "Bud" Whittenton of Forrest City; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Whittenton will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
