Abner "Albert" Brown

Mr. Abner "Albert" Brown, age 70, of Marietta, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Kennestone of Marietta, Ga.

Mr. Brown was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Forrest City, to Albert Brown and Rosie Lee Brazile Brown. He is survived by his seven daughters, Isabella Brown, Rosie L. Brown and Marilyn Brown all of Milwaukee, Wis., Karin Brown, Tammy Brown and Antonia Brown all of Marietta, Ga. and Eve Adams of Flossmoor, Ill.; five sons, Albert Brown of Milwaukee, Wis., Mack Brown, Corey Glover, Gerome Glover and Melvin Brown all of Marietta, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Brown will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. at the Rising Sun M.B. Church with Rev. John Strong officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.


Wayne Fenton James

Mr. Wayne Fenton James, age 45, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the Nathan Adelson Hospice-East.

Mr. James was born Jan. 16, 1959, in Gary, Ind. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a hotel security officer. He is survived by his wife, Dorian James of Las Vegas, Nev.; four sons, Shawn James and Justin James of Hampton, Va. and Christopher Ross and Michael Acosta of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two brothers, Almond James Jr. and Marshall James of Forrest City.

Visitation for Mr. James will be held on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Palm Mortuary-Eastern in Las Vegas, Nev. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Palm Mortuary-Eastern in Las Vegas, Nev. A Graveside service will follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday at 12 p.m.


John Henry Jones Sr.

Mr. John Henry Jones Sr., age 79, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Wynwood Nursing Center in Wynne. Mr. Jones was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Parkin, the son of William Henry Jones and Anna Lou Davis Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Lula Haggins Jones of Forrest City, two daughters, Lula A. Jones and JoAnna Johnson of Forrest City; two sons, John Henry Jones Jr. and Jerry P. Jones of Forrest City; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Pruitt, a son, Clyde Jones and a sister, Josephine Roger.

Visitation for Mr. Jones will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Community Voices Community Center with Bro. Floyd Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.


Ida Mae Metcalf

Mrs. Ida Mae Metcalf, age 80, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City. Mrs. Metcalf was born April 10, 1923, in Hughes. She was a retired cook for the Forrest City School District.

Mrs. Metcalf is survived by her step-mother, Essie Mooney of Forrest City; seven sons, Isiah Metcalf Jr., Milton Metcalf and Melvin Metcalf all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Harold Metcalf of Rantoul, Ill., Dr. Handel A. Metcalf of Naperville, Ill. and Marvin Metcalf and Phil Metcalf of Forrest City; five daughters, Florence Mayfield of Memphis, Patricia Robinson, Marilyn Hackett and Teresa Hollis of Dallas, Texas and Nancy Adell of Forrest City. She is also survived by three brothers, Jimmy Mooney, Lorenza Mooney and Sidney Mooney all of Cincinnati, Ohio; 45 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Metcalf will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Taylor's Chapel CME Church on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jesse Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
