James Lee Austin

Mr. James Lee Austin, age 78, of Forrest City, died Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Baptist East, Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Austin was born September 18, 1925 in Maben, Mississippi. He was the son of Edgar Austin and Mattie Morgan Austin. He worked as a foreman for the Forest Parks Department.

Mr. Austin is survived by two nieces, Mattie Austin Teal of Memphis, Tennessee and Emma Morman of Rossville, Tennessee; a nephew, Tommie Austin, Jr. of Forrest City and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Austin will be held on Friday, January 23, 2004 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Prosperity M.B. Church with Rev. James E. Delaney officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery under the direction of Woodhouse Mortuary.


Wiley Ray Busby

Mr. Wiley Ray Busby, age 62, of West Memphis, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

Mr. Busby was born March 15, 1941, in Forrest City, the son of Leland Jackson Busby and Etta Evelyn Griffin Busby. He was a former resident of Memphis, was a painter and wallcovering contractor who owned Contract Painters. He was also a Baptist.

Mr. Busby married Mary Lynn Gilmer in 1962, and she survives him along with two sons, Brian Ray Busby and Brent Busby both of West Memphis; two sisters, Evelyn Harris of Almhurst, Ohio and Debbie Gadberry of Forrest City; two brothers, Alton Busby of West Memphis and John Busby of Forrest City; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leland Busby.

Visitation for Mr. Busby will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at 1 p.m., in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.


Bobby Allen Evans Jr.

Mr. Bobby Allen Evans Jr., age 32, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at his home.

Mr. Evans was born Sept. 6, 1971, in West Helena, the son of Bobby and Margie Hughes Evans. He worked with the Area Developmental Center in Forrest City and was a member of the Rolfe Chapel Assembly of God Church in Wynne.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Molly of the home; both his parents of Russellville; and two sisters, Tammy Parkman of Heber Springs and Tewana Evans of Judsonia.

Visitation for Mr. Evans will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Morgan Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.


Noma Ferrell

Mrs. Noma Ferrell, age 88, of Forrest City, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Ferrell was born Feb. 2, 1915, in New Albany, Miss., the daughter of Hopp Ferrell and Leona Mason Ferrell. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lee Satterwhite of Forrest City; a son, Arthur James Ferrell; two sisters, Anniebell McCain of Pine Bluff and Carrie B. Wilson of Haynes; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Sims.

Visitation will be held at Woodhouse Mortuary on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Shady Grove M.B. Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Theodis Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.
