Mable Howerton

Mrs. Mable Howerton, age 90, of Jonesboro and formerly of Haynes, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004.

Mrs. Howerton was born July 31, 1913, in Haynes, the daughter of William Thomas Cox and Alice Bullard Cox. She was a school teacher, member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Marianna and a member of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Howerton married Raymond Howerton in 1962 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by a son, Arnold Verhoeven of Haynes; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Forrest Park Cemetery, at 2 p.m. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


Christopher Lynn McMurrin

Christopher Lynn McMurrin, the infant son of Christopher McMurrin and Michelle Manues of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at UTMB Hospital in Galveston, Texas.

The infant was born Jan. 28, 2004 and is survived by both his parents; two sisters, Jordan Manues and Miklyn Manues, both of Forrest City; a brother, Seth Stultz of Forrest City; his maternal grandparents Charles May of Michigan and Paula Golden of Forrest City; his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Paula McMurrin of Hot Springs; his maternal great-grandparents Hank and Evelyn Eldridge of Forrest City; and his paternal great-grandfather Guy Williams of Hot Springs.

Visitation for the child will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in the evening until 7 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at 11 a.m., at Forrest Park Cemetery.
