Louis Franklin Clay

Mr. Louis Franklin Clay, age 53, of Eldorado, died on Thursday, July 1, 2004.

Mr. Clay, born Jan. 2, 1951, in Forrest City, was an employee with Entergy. He is survived by his wife, Cassie Clay of Eldorado; two sons Clayton Dupree Clay and Todd Clay, both of Forrest City; two daughters, Angela Bolden and Candice Clay, both of Forrest City; two brothers, Elbert Clay of Chicago, Ill., and Hugh D. Clay of Little Rock; three sisters, Freida Williams and Gwendolyn C. Williams, both of Forrest City, and E. Elise West of Little Rock; a stepson, Andrew Stanley of Little Rock; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Williams of Little Rock and Junniest Redeus of Pine Bluff; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Clay were held on Monday, July 5, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Forrest City Civic Center with Rev. Barry Dodson officiating. Burial followed in Forrest City Cemetery under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.


Janet Toney Honeycutt

Mrs. Janet Toney Honeycutt, of age 74, Little Rock, died Thursday, July 1, 2004.

Mrs. Honeycutt was born in Memphis on Nov. 26, 1929, the daughter of John and Virginia Osborne Toney. Mrs. Honeycutt had worked at the medical center in Little Rock for 19 years and served as the Executive Director of the Alumni Association at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine. In addition to running the alumni association, she was the director of the Arkansas Caduceus Club and a board member of the Founders Society, which seeks endowments for the college. Mrs. Honeycutt was also a member of the Scattered Seeds Garden Club, the Aesthetic Club, active in Chi Omega sorority affairs, and a member of the Second Presbyterian Church.

In 1954, Mrs. Honeycutt married Dr. Wesley Mage Honeycutt and he preceded her in death in 1979. She is survived by a daughter, Grace Ann Honeycutt of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; a son, Wesley Mage Honeycutt Jr. of Mayflower; a brother, Jack Toney, of Forrest City; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Honeycutt were held at on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock with Rev. Dr. Karen Akin and Rev. Steve Hancock officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Park under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home.

The family requests memorials be made to the W. Mage and Janet T. Honeycutt Memorial Scholarship at U.A.M.S.


James Raybern Lamb

Mr. James Raybern Lamb, age 57, of Paragould, died Thursday, July 1, at Northeast Arkansas Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mr. Lamb, the son of Jesse B. Lamb and Virgina Minton Lamb, was a truck driver and a member of Abundant Life Worship Center in Forrest City. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Lamb of the home; a daughter, Jessie L. Battles of Dextor, Mo.; two sons, Gary Lamb and James R. Lamb II, both of Paragould; four brothers, Jerry Lamb of Colt, Johnny Lamb and Joel Lamb, both of Shipshawanna, Ind., and Jackie Lamb of Glennville, Ga.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; a sister, Rena Mae Brock and a brother, Jesse Ronald Lamb.

Visitation for Mr. Lamb will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Abundant Life Worship Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services following at 1 p.m. Rev. John Morris will officiate the service and burial will follow in Akin Cemetery in Vanndale.

The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1024 Robinwood, Paragould, AR 72450.


Kyle Chandler Smith

Kyle Chandler Smith, of Palestine, the infant son of Brandon Smith and Melissa Browning Cook, died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

The infant Smith is survived by both his parents of Palestine; a brother, Caleb Cook of Palestine; a sister, McKenzie Cook McGough of Palestine; a maternal grandmother, Judy Hill of Palestine; a maternal great-grandfather Homer Jumper of Palestine. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother Christine Jumper of Palestine.

Funeral services for the infant Smith were held graveside at Bell Cemetery on Sunday, July 4, 2004. Stevens Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.


Robert Van Vranken

Mr. Robert Van Vranken, age 86, of Forrest City, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mr. Van Vranken was born March 12, 1918, in John Day, Ore., the son of Thomas Van Vranken and Alice Walker Van Vranken. He attended school in California, served five years in World War II and was a sales representative for Forrest City Wholesale Grocery for 35 years. He was also a Communicant of St. Francis Catholic Church and a member of the Men's Club.

Mr. Van Vranken married Bernice Ash in 1946 and she survives him along with a daughter, Pamela Nolan of Arlington, Texas; two sons, Thomas Van Vranken of Midland, Texas and Michael Van Vranken of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Van Vranken and Dayton Van Vranken.

Visitation for Mr. Van Vranken will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home followed by Rosary at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the St. Francis Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Francis Catholic Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
