Mrs. Jennie Mae Hartman, age 77, of Forrest City, died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Hartman was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Friendship, was the daughter of Jodie Benjamin Cook Sr. and Jenna Lynn Furr. She was a housewife and lived in Forrest City for all of her life. Mrs. Hartman was a former member of the Democratic Central Committee and was treasurer for the Baptist Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member a St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
In 1945, Mrs. Hartman married Calvin Hartman and he survives her along with two daughters, Sheila Adcock of Memphis and Brenda May of Forrest City; a son, Brett Hartman of Forrest City; two brothers, C.J. Cook of Texas and J.B. Cook of Forrest City; three sisters, Dorothy Herbert, Adreene Kelly and Milrean Horton, all of Forrest City; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Hartman, in 2003.
Visitation for Mrs. Hartman will be held on Friday, July 9, 2004, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Ed Graves officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hazel Ruth Rucker, age 55, of Forrest City, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at Methodist Hospital Central in Memphis.
Mrs. Rucker, born March 29, 1949, in Vandale, was a retired laborer from Sanyo Manufacturing Corporation. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Doyle Rucker of Forrest City; her mother, Linnie Mae Williams of West Memphis; two sons, Kip Rucker of West Memphis and Joseph Rucker Jr. of Forrest City; a daughter, Crissy Rucker of Forrest City; two brothers, Johnnie Williams and Rodney Williams, both of Wynne; nine sisters, Bertha Taylor, Rosetta Richardson, Mayme McClinic, Donna Lynn Williams and Shirley Sue Pugh, all of Wynne, Brenda Fay Odums of Tulare, Calif., Jacqueline J. Maney of Potomac Falls, Va., Kathy Ann Edmondson of Hot Springs and Joyce Marie Curtis of Batcholar, Louisiana. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rucker will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2004, at United Christian M.B. Church at noon with Rev. Norris Latham Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery. The Clay Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
