Bishop John Henry Jennings

Bishop John Henry Jennings, age 96, of Forrest City, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Crestpark Retirement Inn and Residential.

Bishop Jennings was born June 11, 1908, in Haynes. He was a retired farmer and is survived by his wife, Jocelyn M. Jennings of Forrest City; a son, Lester Jennings of Carson, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Jennings will be held on Friday, July 23, 2004, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Days Temple Church of God in Christ and on Saturday, July 24, 2004, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Salem M.B. Church. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at Salem M.B. Church at 11 a.m. with Bishop L.T. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Gardens Cemetery. Clay Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.


Thelma Jones

Mrs. Thelma Jones, age 89, of Holub Crossing, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at her home.

Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Holub Crossing, the daughter of Joseph E. Holub and Neva L. Hawk Holub. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wall Chapel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jones is survived by two daughters, Neva L. Mitchell of Holub Crossing and Clara Barton Coleman of Colt; two brothers, George Ballard of Marianna and Buddy Ballard of Holub Crossing; a sister, Margie Cox of Hamburg; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Israel Jones and one daughter, Margret Ann Jones.

Visitation for Mrs. Jones will be held on Friday, July 23, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wall Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Wall Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Baker, Bro. Eddie Addison and Bro. Michael Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Helena.
