Murphy Gregory

Mr. Murphy Gregory, age 78, of Forrest City, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Crestpark Retirement Inn and Residential Care. Mr. Gregory was born May 13, 1926, in Wynne. He was a retired truck driver.

Mr. Gregory is survived by his wife, Bobbie Gregory of Forrest City; a son, Anthony Scott of Madison; five daughters, Sandra Gregory, Melba Gregory and Vickie Montgomery all of Memphis, Carolyn Jones of Houston, Texas and Dorothy Moore of St. Louis, Mo.; and two stepdaughters, Louise Moore of Forrest City and Linda White of Jonesboro. He is also survived by two sisters, Nettie Haggans and Josephine Drake, both of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, O.B. Haggans of St. Louis, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr., Gregory will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the United Christian M.B. Church with Rev. Norris Latham officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery in Caldwell.


Jimmy Lee Stegall

Mr. Jimmy Lee Stegall, age 86, of Forrest City, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock.

Mr. Stegall was born June 5, 1918, in Colt and was the son of Marshall Stegall and Warnie Spear Stegall.

In 1943, Mr. Stegall married Elvania Patton Stegall and she survives him along with eight daughters, Bessie Penson and McGail Pannell, both of Tupelo, Miss., Jane Stegall, Argie Gay and Joredia Patton all of Little Rock, Dorothy Stegall and Debbie Stegall, both of Austin, Texas and Angela Stegall of West Memphis; five sons, Jimmy Dale Stegall of Detroit, Mich., Marshall Stegall and Rickey Stegall, both of Austin, Texas, Willie Stegall of Southfield, Mich., and Victor Stegall of Forrest City; two sisters, Mattie Spearmon of Cleveland, Ohio and Lena Hannah of Detroit, Mich.; 31 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Stegall will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services for Mr. Stegall will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2004, at Jerusalem M.B. Church with Rev. Cortez Stegall officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.
