Last season, the Forrest City Junior Mustangs finished the year at 6-2-1 overall and 5-1 in the AAAAA-Conference which gave the junior high team the league title.
Next week, the Junior Mustangs begin the task of defending that title.
Football physicals for Forrest City students, grades 7-12, will be held Monday, Aug. 2, at the junior high field house, beginning at 4 p.m.
Cost per student is $10 cash, no checks.
Junior high equipment will be handed out Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 3, 4, 5, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., to only those students who have had their physicals.
The eighth and ninth-grade Junior Mustangs will begin practice Friday, Aug. 6, at 1 p.m. on the practice field.
Forrest City will begin their season on Thursday, Sept. 2, when they host Marianna at Sam Smith Stadium.
*Calvary Christian School will hold athletic physicals Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 3 p.m.
The physicals will be given at the offices of Dr. Sudhir Kumar at 1801 Lindauer in Forrest City.
Cost per student is $10 and Dr. Kumar's office has requested cash payment only.
The Cross County Boys and Girls Club will once again sponsor a summer men's basketball league.
The league teams will play its games at the O'dell McCallum Community Center, located at 325 Magnolia Street in Wynne.
The league will begin play Aug. 24 and will continue through Oct. 29.
League participants have to be age 18 or older and teams may have up to 15 roster players. No changes will be permitted once the roster has been submitted.
Games will be played Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Cost per team is $150. The eadline to sign up is Aug. 9.

Searcy Crain Automotive and Sylvan Hills Optimist Club have a Saturday date.
The two American Legion teams will go head to head at the AAA State Tournament, which begins Saturday in Fort Smith
The double-elimination tourney will be played at Crowder Field on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.
Last year, Crain Automotive was eliminated in two games at the state tournament.
This time around, it's a much more confident Crain Automotive team which will take the field.
Searcy Crain and Sylvan Hills Optimist Club, will play at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Crain Automotive goes into the tournament after losing the Zone II district tournament title to Batesville's Atlas Asphalt on Monday.
Sylvan Hills won the Zone 3 district championship Monday.
