Mr. James Buford, age 59, of Belleville, Ill. and formerly of Forrest City, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at his home.
Mr. Buford was born March 2, 1945, in Parkin. He was a retired machine operator.
Mr. Buford is survived by his wife, Vera Buford, of Belleville, Ill.; four sons, Gerald Tyler and Tracy Buford, both of Rockford Ill., Mark Buford of Chicago, Ill., and Eric Buford of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter Adele Buford Robinson of Belleville, Ill.; two brothers, Albert Buford of Colt and Eugene Buford of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Carrey Bell of Chicago, Ill. and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Clay Funeral Home on Saturday, June
12, 2004, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Funeral services for
Mr. Buford will be held at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church
at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2004, with Rev. C.L. Moore officiating.
Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery in Colt, under the direction
of Clay Funeral Home.
Mrs. Opal Wallace Emerson, age 89, of Forrest City, died Thursday, June 10, 2004.
She was born Jan. 31, 1915 in Minturn. She lived in Forrest City for all of her life, where she worked for many years as a sales clerk for Jim Edgar Drug Store and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Emerson was married to Guy Emerson, who preceded her in death in 1982. She is survived by three sons, Billy Guy Emerson of Forrest City, Marcus Joe Emerson of Greenwood and Jerry Lee Emerson of Cape Girardeau, Mo. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One son, Wallace Emerson, preceded her in death in 1990, and a grandson, Doodle Emerson, preceded her in death in 2001.
Visitation for Mrs. Emerson will be Saturday, June 12, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
