It was a good weekend for the area youth traveling baseball teams.
Arkansas Concrete won their age division at the Marion USSSA Tournament held over the weekend.
Meanwhile, Forrest City Lucas Trucking won the 12-under division at the Super Series Tournament played at West Memphis and the Forrest City Fireballs won the Minor Division (13-under).
Arkansas Concrete defeated the Marion Flyers 5-4 Sunday in the finals of the tournament.
Barrett Astin and Joey Bonds combined for the pitching duties while Raymond Patillo slammed a fourth inning home run to help lead Arkansas Concrete.
The Arkansas Concrete team defeated the Flyers 5-4 to open the tournament and then took a 9-1 win over Searcy.
A 2-1 win over the Sliders in the semifinal game put the team into the finals and a return meeting against Marion.
Arkansas Concrete team members include Brent DeVazier, Bonds, Baker Aldridge, Patillo and Astin, all of Forrest City; Jameson Weaver, Price Holmes and Justin Honey from Newport; Jacob Smith from Marianna and Lando Bass from Lepanto. The team is being coached this season by Greg Bonds, John Aldridge and Casey Laws.
At West Memphis, Lucas defeated the Pirates 14-4 in Sunday's championship game to win their division's title.
Lucas opened the tournament with a 4-1 loss to the Pirates but rebounded to defeat the Eagles 13-5, and the Cubs 3-1 and 8-2 to get into the finals.
Lucas used a big nine-run, fifth inning to turn a 5-4 game into the 14-4 final.
Louis Driver got the pitching start for Lucas in the championship game.
Henry Henderson, Jim Bailey, Darius Banks, Derek Buchanan and T.J. McFadden all scored two runs to help offensively.
Lucas Trucking team members include Henderson, Brandon Moton, Bailey, Buchanan, Banks, Shardario Logan, James Humphrey, Driver, Heard, Dominique Madden, Chandler Sorrrells, McFadden, John Jones and Shane Knox.
The team is coached by Jim Bailey, Roy Hancock and Nick King.
At West Memphis, the Forrest City Fireballs battled back from an opening 9-8 loss to the Memphis Travelers on Friday to defeat the Jonesboro J-Dogs in semifinal action, 4-1.
That put the Fireballs into Sunday's final and a rematch against the Travelers.
Barrett Beshears provided the solid pitching effort and the Fireballs scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take an 8-3 win for the tournament title.
Chance Pearson pitched five innings and gave up five hits with four strikeouts in the 4-1 win over Jonesboro.
The J-Dogs stranded 11 base runners in the game, leaving the bases loaded twice.
The Fireballs were coming off a 2-2 effort at the recent Speed The Light Tournament at Wynne.
Forrest City Post 4 American Legion baseball team will host Newport today at the Sports Complex.
The doubleheader will start at 5:30 p.m.
The game will be a rematch of Sunday's doubleheader at Newport, which was limited to one game due to the weather.
Newport was able to score the win.
Forrest City will open play Thursday in Jonesboro at the Creative Edge Classic.
The team will play its first two pool play games at Arkansas State University before moving to Nettleton High School for the final game.
The tournament will continue through Sunday.
