While Pratt (Kansas) Community College Coach Kevin Hackerott is saying goodbye to one former Forrest City Lady Mustang, he has opened his doors to another.
Deosha Agnew finished her stay at Pratt this year and is moving on to Div. 2 University of Missouri-Rolla to continue her basketball career.
That opened the door for Forrest City guard Katrina Wynne, who graduated in May.
Wynne, a three-year Lady Mustang, signed the letter-of-intent with Pratt this morning.
She says she has visited the campus and is looking forward to beginning classes in the fall.
"For the first year, I'm going to live on campus and then I will probably move to off-campus housing for my second year," Wynne, a single mom said. "I'm excited. I'm looking forward to playing basketball at the next level."
Agnew, a 2002 Forrest City graduate, opted for Pratt but suffered through a difficult freshman season -- which saw her lose her scholarship, her place on the team and the support of former coach Billy Murry. Agnew left Pratt and returned to Forrest City, not certain of her college future.
Enter Hackerott, Pratt's new women's coach, who with some help from former Forrest City Coach Sue Jayroe, was able to reopen the doors for Agnew to return to Pratt.
Agnew said she also played a small role in getting Wynne to Pratt.
"I knew Coach Hackerott was looking for some other players from Arkansas and I told him about Trina," Agnew said.
Hackerott is losing three players from his Pratt team, but will return a strong nucleus of players including this past season's leading scorer.
Agnew and Wynne played together at Forrest City just one season -- in 2002 -- when Agnew was a senior and Wynne was a sophomore.
Agnew finished her eligibility at Pratt by averaging more than 17 points a game and was second in rebounding in the Jayhawk West Conference.
Agnew started every game for Pratt this past season.

Tonight, one unbeaten streak will end and one will continue for another game in the 16-under fast-pitch girls' softball league.
Pizza Inn and Bonanza, both 5-0, will face each other at 7 p.m. on Field 2 at the Sports Complex.
Tonight's game should be the second meeting between the two teams but the first scheduled meeting -- on May 13 -- was rained out.
With two regular season games left after tonight, plus the two rain out make ups games, tonight's winner will certainly have the upper hand at taking the league championship.
Bonanza is coached this season by veteran softball player and coach Steve Gracey and has on its roster several of the high school Lady Mustang players, including Gracey's daughter, Stacey, who has been the team's starting pitcher.
Pizza Inn is coached by Kenneth Marlowe and includes a couple of the high school Lady Mustang players as well.
In other 16-under action tonight, the Wynne-based Dixie Chix will take on Times-Herald while Dr. St. John will battle Clay Funeral Home.
The 12-under fast-pitch league also plays tonight as does the adult women's league.
There is one other matchup tonight between two unbeaten teams.
Wal-Mart and Gym 2000 will meet in men's adult softball. Both teams are 3-0.

Forrest City Lady Mustang softball coach Pam England was happy with the 11 players who attended this week's two-day skills camp at Williams College in Walnut Ridge.
England had hoped for more to attend -- only three from the Lady Mustang teams went -- but given the early departure time, she was pleased with the efforts.
"It was especially good for the junior high girls who went," England said. "Several of the Williams' staff and Williams' players served as instructors at the camp."
The campers were given instruction in all areas of the game, including bunting and base running.
"Most of it was basic fundamentals," England said. "All of the Forrest City girls were put into the 15-under age group. They were shown the skills. Now all they have to do is apply it to their individual games."
