Chance Pearson and Blake Davis combined to pitch Machen Ford to a 13-8 win over Forrest City Health Club Monday in Junior Babe Ruth play at the Sports Complex.
Pearson worked the first two innings, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out five. Davis finished out the game, giving up four runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
Machen improves to 4-1 in the league and remains in second place behind Taylor Glass.
The Health Club team scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead when Kenny Malone and Trenton Ware each singled to start the game. With one out, Dale Boyd's RBI double scored Ware after Malone scored on an error.
Boyd came around to score on an error with Markese Ware at the plate to make it 3-2.
In the Machen second inning, Tyler Davenport singled with one out before Pearson drew a two-out walk. Bowman's three-run triple plated all three runners for a 5-3 Machen lead.
Machen added five runs in the top of the fourth to lead 10-4 before Health Club plated its four final runs in the home half of the inning.
William Franklin led off the inning with a solo home run.
Bowman and Pearson led Machen by scoring three runs each while Mark Machen, Davis and Davenport each scored twice. Taylor Chism added a single run.
Malone scored twice for the Health Club while Trenton Ware, Boyd, Franklin, Chris Jones, Ronald Scott and Zachary Hoskins added single runs.
*Rotary Club scored first against Cochran, but Cochran scored last and often which led to a 17-6 win in the JBRuth nightcap.
Trailing 4-0, Cochran plated six runs in the bottom of the first inning to lead 6-4.
Rotary sliced the lead to 6-5 with a run in the top of the second before Cochran scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 11-5.
A six-run, fourth inning closed out the win for Cochran.
Kenny Norman, Demario Peters and Lee Smith led Cochran by scoring three runs each. Norman and Peters each hit home runs.
Brandon Barnett, Torre Hunter and Nathan Jefferson scored twice while Justin Cochran and Demario McNutt added single runs.
Peters started for Cochran and pitched one inning before giving way to Cochran with no outs.
A. J. Moody scored two runs to lead Rotary.

In girls' 12-under fast pitch softball Monday night, Delta Breeze ran their season record to 6-0 by turning back Giffin's Grins 10-6.
With three games left to play, Delta Breeze is one step closer to the league title.
A win Thursday over second-place Crowley's (4-2) would virtually hand the league championship to Delta Breeze, a team comprised of girls from Forrest City and Wynne.
Delta Breeze plated five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead after falling behind 3-0 to Giffin's.
Giffin's added three more runs in the third but Delta Breeze answered with five.
Lanora Bryant, Jerien James, Murry Lace and Morgan Baldwin led Delta Breeze by scoring two runs each. Lace belted a home run in the third inning.
Giffin's got two runs each from Deonmonique Glasper and Nakia Mason as well as single runs by Shatera Jordan and Nikki Derrick.
Also Monday, it was Crowley's taking a 15-9 win over Food Giant to improve to 4-2 for the year.
Food Giant got runs from Mishanna Morgan, Robin Steward, Courtney Barton, Ashtin Steward and Jessika Johnson.
Semiko Grady and Shanneka Barber led Crowley's by scoring three runs each.
Sharicka Jones, Tremekia McDaniel, Brittney Tracy, Sydney Mitchell, Kimberly Shafer and Jasmine Rucker addded runs.
The league will finish out the regular season schedule Thursday before making up two rain out dates next week.
Walker Insurance moved to 10-0 for the year Tuesday and took another step toward winning the National Division title in the 10-under girls' slow pitch softball league by turning back Children's Clinic 12-1.
Walker is the only unbeaten team in the league and has four games remaining to be played.
Tejerrra McClinic led Walker Tuesday by scoring three runs. Her teammates, Mary Burks and Bailey Hunt scored two runs each while Kelsey Morris, Briana Burke, Haley Meeks, Michala Burns and JaKayla Burke scored single runs.
Ardraya McCoy scored the lone run for Children's Clinic.
Southern Furniture improved to 7-3 in the National Division Tuesday, edging Dr. Schwartz 11-10.
Lori Ratton, Whitney Morgan and Loretta Wilburn each scored two times for Southern. Jade and Jada Haymer scored single runs as did Brandi Morgan, Haley Morris and LeFlora Cannon.
Southern and Schwartz were knoted at 10-10 before Wilburn scored the game-winning run in the top of the fifth. Schwartz had the tying run on base when the final out of the game was made.
Katie Davis scored three times to lead Schwartz while Katie Barnes added two runs. Morgan Hight, Dajar Wynne, Taylor Metcalf and Jasmine Lankford scored single runs.
B&E Tire split their doubleheader Tuesday, losing to Stevens 11-0 in the first game and then returning to hold off Sanyo 15-12 in the second game.
Hananah Lawson, Krishanna London and Natalie renigar led B&E with three runs each in the win over Sanyo.
Sanyo led 10-9 after two innings before B&E put up five runs in the third to lead.
Lindsay Smith, Rodshanik Brown and Natalie Turner led Sanyo by scoring two runs each. Courtney Hodges, Kirbi Stotts, Ahsaki Ivory, D'Aujuane Powell,, Maggie Pipkin and Jami Fisher added single runs.
Stevens used two runs each by Ashley Blaylock, Caroline Nimocks and Lindsey Leake and single runs by Mollie Laws, Sydney Peterson and Breyunna Williams.
Stevens stands at 5-5 for the year.
Forrest City Bank improved to 9-1 for the year and stayed in first place in the American Division of the league with a 5-3 win over Food Giant.
Food Giant scored all three runs in the top of the first inning while FC Bank scored all five of their runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Kaylin Roberts, Julia Glasper, Callie Robichaud and Kristen Qualls plated runs for FCBank while Food Giant got runs from Kayla Evans and Diamondnique Lacy.
The loss leaves Food Giant at 6-4 and in second place in the American Division.
Combined Tuesday night, Leslie and First National Bank scored 32 runs in their victories over Sanyo and Taco Bell.
Leslie, 9-1 in the Bambino 9-10 League, thumped Sanyo 14-3 while First National won its fifth straight game by turning back Taco Bell 18-10.
FNBank stands at 7-2 for the year.
The team used a big 15-run, second inning in which 19 hitters stepped to the plate.
Six players, Hakeem Palmer, Michael Ludwig, Jacob Tittle, Zane Walton, Darrien Green and Kye Tillman each scored twice in the inning.
Jordan Chatters hit two home runs for FNB, a solo shot and a two-run shot while Mercedes Smith scored twice. Ludwig led all scorers with three runs.
Xavier Clardy led Taco Bell with three runs while Elbert Hamilton added two runs and Maurice Bradley, Danarius Fingers and Cody Rice scored single runs.
Sanyo got runs from James Alldridge, Kendall Lee and Michael Ethan Mathis in the loss to Leslie. Corey Leslie scored three runs and got help from James Pendergrass, John Gilbreath, T. Giles McElroy, Blake Lester, Calvin Hodges and Nathan Standridge.
In other games Tuesday, Pearson Insurance moved to 5-4 for the year by defeating Giffin's 10-3 and Joeys' forfeited to Food Giant, now 7-3 for the year. It was Food Giant's fourth straight win.
Scott Gracey led Pearson by scoring three runs.
The Mid-South Heat Track Club traveled to Conway recently for the State Qualification Meet, the team's second meet of the season.
The meet served as a qualifier for the upcoming state competition Saturday, June 12, at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
Several outstanding junior and senior high athletes from Forrest City helped set the pace ffor the Heat at Conway.
Forrest City sophomore Eric Walker, who qualified and finished third at the High School Meet of the Champs last month in the 400-meter run with a time of 50.15, bested his time in the Conway event by running a 49.46 in the 400.
Walker also won the 200-meter race in a time of 22.42 and finished third in the long jump with an effort of 20 feet, seven inches.
His sister, Lejoy Walker ran third in the 200-meter and fourth in the 400-meter at Conway.
Justin Ross won the 400-meter race with a time of 53.47 and also took third in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, seven inches. He finished seventh in the 200-meter dash.
Mario Sims ran fifth in the 200-meter run (24.53) and he ran eighth in 100-meter.
First-year team member Heather Hodges placed 10th in the 200-meter and qualified for the state competition in the Walk/Race.
Shalon Johnson finished seventh in the long jump with an effort of 13 feet, two inches. She was fifth in the 400-meter run.
Lindsay Renigar ran ninth in the 200 and 400-meter races and qualified for state competition in the Race/Walk.
Kyle Houston was second in the 800-meter run (2:20) and ran second in the 1,500-meter run (4:49).
James McKinney was fifth in the 800-meter run and sixth in the mile while Dexter Lyles was fifth in the mile run and sixth in the 800-meter.
The youngest athlete on the team, Dominique Deshawn, finished sixth in the 200-meter dash and in the long jump.
Jimmy Bean won the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, nine inches and was second in the discus with a throw of 98 feet.
Chatman Tucker was third in the shot with a throw of 20 feet, three inches and won the discus with a toss of 63 feet, five inches.
T.J. Walker swept the field with first-place finishes in the shot put, (43 feet) and in the discus with a throw of 93 feet, seven inches.
A "5 on 5" basketball tournament will be held Saturday, June 26, at Madison Park.
The deadline to enter the tournament is June 20 and the entry fee is $25 per team.
The tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m. and continue through the championship game.

More than 30 students from Astin's Martial Arts Center in Forrest city and Wynne, competed in the NTFA National Martial Arts Championships held in Jacksonville. Astin's students brought back 15 first place trophies, 16 second place trophies and 11 third place trophies in events such as sparring, forms, self defense, weapons and musical forms. The students are taught by Master Gina Astin, 5th degree Black belt and Carroll Astin, second Degree Black Belt.
Students are from the Forrest City location and are: Jacob Paddock, Ryan Jayroe, Samantha Kearns, Ashley Astin, Carroll Astin, instructor; Felice Lewis, Sara Matlock, assistant instructor. Other students taking part in the championships included Kadie Lockard, Danielle Harris, Courtney Harris, Louis Turner, John Gilbreath, Katie Gilbreath, Connie Ing, Ken Ing, Weston Lewis, Tim Patton and Taelor Blankenship.
