Forrest City sophomore Marcus Britt put on a shooting exhibition over the weekend at the Charles Ripley Basketball Camp played at Keith Jackson's P.A.R.K. facilities in Little Rock.

Britt's touch helped the Forrest City Mustangs win their division championship, finishing the three-day camp and tournament at 5-2.

Forrest City Coach Dwight Lofton took 11 players to the weekend tournament in which 14 teams were divided into two divisions. The teams opened Friday in pool play and advanced to the championship rounds on Sunday.

In pool play, Forrest city defeated Conway's JV 58-32 and lost to Conway's varsity 43-41 Friday. On Saturday, the Mustangs opened with a 53-50 overtime loss to Little Rock Catholic before defeating Lonoke 50-41 and Pulaski Robinson 45-39.

On Sunday, Forrest City defeated Benton in the semifinals 45-38 and then held off Little Rock Christian 45-37 in the championship game.

"I was impressed by our two sophomores -- Britt and Stephon Weaver," Lofton said. "They are going to give us an extra dimension during the next high school season."

Lofton credited senior-to-be Chris Williams for stepping up and assuming the leadership role on the floor and point guard Jarvis Palmer.

"We need to work on our inside game," Lofton said. "Right now, we are using senior Jacobi Morton, who played on the junior varsity squad last year in the middle right now."

Lofton said senior Nick Grady, who missed most of last year, played well over the weekend in his role off the bench.

"He is trying to work his way back into the mix," Lofton said.

Lofton started Weaver, Britt, Williams, Palmer and Morton and used nine of the 11 roster players over the weekend.
