At least the Forrest City adult softball leagues got in one night this week.
The league probably should consider itself fortunate with only one rainout date so far.
In adult men's softball league action Thursday, Gym 2000 and Kirby's put a little more distance between themselves and the rest of the league by nailing down league victories.
Gym 2000 turned back the Head Hunters by scoring seven times in the last inning to post a 20-10 win.
Kirby's put together an eight-run, fifth inning to rout the Middle Busters 19-6.
Both Gym and Kirby's are 8-1 for the year and tied for first place in the league. Kirby's lone defeat came against Gym, while Gym's only loss was against Middle Busters.
Kerby's and Gym 2000 will met for the second time on Monday, July 5. Gym 2000 and Middle Busters will face each other again on July 8.
Middle Busters drops to second place at 6-2 while A&M Connection improves to 4-4 and moves into third place.
A&M defeated Food Giant 14-2 in one of two late games Thursday. Laws Contracting handed Wal-Mart a 16-9 loss in the final game of the night.
The Middle Busters, who had their four-game win streak snapped, tied Kirby's at 3-3 after two innings.
Kirby's pushed home a run in the top of he fourth to regain a 4-3 lead and then added three runs in the fourth for a 7-3 cushion. Middle Busters got within one at 7-6 by scoring three times in the bottom of the fourth.
The rest of the game belonged to Kirby's, who put the game out of reach with the eight-run fifth and added four more runs in the sixth.
Gym 2000 scored eight runs in the second inning against the Head Hunters and led 10-4 going into the fourth inning.
A&M held Food Giant scoreless until the fourth inning in their win Thursday night.
The men's league has five playing dates remaining before the district tournament opens on July 15, at the Sports Complex.
In the adult women's league, Popeyes pulled the upset by knocking off the Dynamic Divas 3-1 while Wal-Mart scored a 13-6 win over the Lady All-Stars.
Chism, which was idle Thursday, leads the league at 6-1 while the Divas are holding down second at 5-2. Popeyes improves to 4-4 for the year while Wal-Mart slips to 3-4.
The postseason T-Ball Tournament resumed play Thursday but the remainder of the tournament appears "iffy" once again after heavy rains drenched the already soggy fields at the Sports Complex.
After playing the opening round of games last Friday, the tournament was lost to rain on Monday and Tuesday.
If play cannot be continued tonight, the tournament may be scrapped.
Thursday night, Dr. Beasley sent Union Planters to the loser's bracket with a 28-15 win and will try to play Boar's head tonight at 6 p.m.
Boar's Head roped Bonanza 22-3 Thursday to advance.
SWilson CPA was awarded a forfeit win over Forrest City Health Club Thursday and will play Imboden tonight at 6 p.m. Imboden defeated Parker Furniture last Friday in their first-round game.
In Thursday's final game, Twillies Tigers got past Perkins 20-19 and will face M&T Paving tonight. M&T was awarded a forfeit win over Western Auto, who has forfeited out of the tournament. That also gives Perkins a forfeit victory in the loser's bracket.
*In the Minor (pitching machine) League, Vaccaro scored twice in the eighth inning to snap an 11-11 tie to hand Hartman Diesel a 13-11 loss Thursday.
The victory lifts Vaccaro into second place in the league standings at 10-3 while Hartman slips to 9-3.
The Vaccaro win also gives Easley Law the outright league title. Easley is undefeated at 12-0 for the year.
*In the Bambino 9-10 League, First National Bank and Pearson Insurance picked up a pair of forfeit wins Thursday night as the league officially looks toward the upcoming 10-year-old District 7 Tournament.
First National was awarded a forfeit win over Taco Bell while Pearson was given the win after Giffin's Grins failed to produce enough players to field a team.
First National Bank will close out the season at 10-2 while Pearson finishes at 7-5. Leslie Construction won the league title, finishing at 11-1.
*The six-team, 10-year-old district tournament is scheduled to begin play this weekend at Pine Bluff.
Forrest City earned a bye and will play the Wynne-West Helena winner Saturday at 3 p.m.
The 10-year-old state tournament will be played July 16, at Jacksonville. John Riggins and Mike Leslie are coaching the 10-year-old All-Stars.
