Ruth Mae "Tommie" Lucas Bailey

Mrs. Ruth Mae "Tommie" Lucas Bailey, age 82, of Forrest City and formerly a longtime resident of Parkin, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Bailey was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Monticello, Ala., the daughter of the late Sylvester Lucas and Myrtle Northcutt Lucas. She attended school in Parkin and lived there for most of her life until moving to Forrest City three years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Parkin.

Mrs. Bailey married William Roy "Bill" Bailey in 1960 and he preceded her in death in 1997. She is survived by a son, John Hampton of Wynne; two daughters, Mary Alice Laws of Forrest City and Johnnie Barnes of Parkin; a brother, Dean Lucas of Parkin; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Gwen Sams.

Visitation for Mrs. Bailey will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at 10 a.m., graveside in Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne with Mr. Albert Lewis officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Parkin.
