Marian Powell Fitzgerald

Mrs. Marian Powell Fitzgerald, age 92, died June 1, 2003. She was born Jan. 21, 1911, in Conway, the daughter of L.Claud Powell and Laura Pearl Powell. She was a Jehovah's Witness since 1952.

Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by a son, William Greer Fitzgerald of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Mary Duke Lowman of Nashville, Tenn.; two half sisters, Patricia A. Griffith of Forrest City and Martha A. Blancke of Hot Springs; two half brothers, Robert D. Powell of Warren and William A. Powell of Brighton, Mich.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Duke Fitzgerald, three brothers and three sisters.

A graveside memorial service was held at Marianna Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 16, 2004.


Alston Randolph "Randy" Fussell Sr.

Mr. Alston Randolph "Randy" Fussell Sr., age 64, of Southaven, Miss., died Monday, March 22, 2004.

Mr. Fussell, formerly of Forrest City, was the son of Dorothy Hall Fussell Suggs and James Vaulx Fussell Sr. He was retired from International Harvester and J.J. Case Credit Corporation and was a 1962 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Mr. Fussell was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Mr. Fussell is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susie McWaters Fussell, two sons, Alston Fussell Jr., of Memphis and John Fussell of Hernando, Miss.; two brothers, James Fussell III, of Little Rock and Judge Robert Fussell of Fayetteville and three grandchildren. Mr. Fussell was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Robert Fussell.

Visitation for Mr. Fussell will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Forest Hill South Funeral Home in Memphis. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Hill South Funeral Home in Memphis. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, at 4 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville with Cobb Funeral Home in charge of services.

The family requests that memorials be sent to the National Diabetes Association, 5583 Murray Rd., Memphis, TN 38119 or to the charity of one's choice.
