Eagles rope the Patriots 9-2

DES ARC -- Freshman pitcher Taylor Clark worked four and a third innings Thursday and allowed only two earned runs but couldn't get he win as the Palestine-Wheatley Patriots lost to Des Arc 9-2.

The loss leaves the Patriots at 0-3 for the season.

Derrick Cooper's two-run home run in the top of the second inning tied the game at 2-2. Cooper's blast came after Casey Hughes reached base.

Des Arc broke the tie with a single run in the bottom of the third and then put the game out of reach by scoring four times in the fourth inning and adding single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Patriots will play at McCrory on Tuesday, March 30.
