Mrs. Connie Hughes Davis, age 43, of Forrest City, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Davis was born July 29, 1960, in Torrance, Calif., the daughter of Julius Hughes and Rosetta Alberta McKisick Hughes. She is survived by her husband, Roosevelt Davis of Forrest City; a sister, Phyllis Hughes of Dallas, Texas; and a brother, Anthony Hughes of Forrest City.
Visitation for Mrs. Davis will be held on Friday, May 7, 2004,
from 12 to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will
be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 3:30 p.m. at the Goodwin
Church of God in Christ with Elder Albert Smith officiating. Burial
will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
Mrs. Odessa Bell Lomack, age 96, of Forrest City, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Lomack was born Jan. 25, 1908, in St. Francis County, the daughter of John Young and Josephine Duty Young. Mrs. Lomack was a member of Kynette United Methodist Church for 50 years and a farmer.
Mrs. Lomack is survived by two daughters, Faycerdella McLeurin of Forrest City and Jorita Billups of Taylor, Mich. and a son, Ellis Bell of St. Louis, Mo.
Visitation for Mrs. Lomack will be held on Friday, May, 7,
2004, from 12 to 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral
services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. at
Lane Chapel CME Church with Rev. Derrick Young officiating. Burial
will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
Mrs. Beatrice M. Terry Washington, age 62, of Wheatley, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Mrs. Washington was born July 3, 1941, in Goodwin, the daughter of John Wesley Terry and Mattle Williams Terry. She was a long time employee of the Sanyo Company of Forrest City having worked 32 years before retiring in 2000, was a member of the Local 1106 AFL-CIO Union, and a member of the Good Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Wheatley, At the church, she was an usher, a trustee and former president.
Mrs. Washington is survived by her husband of 37 years, Henry Washington Jr. of Wheatley; five sons, Norman Gregory of Wheatley, Ted Washington of Arlington, Texas, Stanley Gregory of Iona, Mich., Sterling Washington of Virginia Beach, Va. and Willie Gregory of Tulsa, Okla.; six daughters, Peggy Phillips of Flint, Mich., Bonnie Wilson of Forrest City, Gloria Springfield of Memphis, Margaret Lenoir and Danyel Allen both of Detroit, Mich. and Rose Mary Hardwick of Arlington, Texas. She is also survived by a brother, Leroy Terry of Brinkley; two sisters, Willie Mae Brown of Detroit, Mich. and Mildred Swanigan of Flint, Mich.; 21 grandchildren' four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 2:30 p.m., at the Wheatley Civic Center with Rev. Wilford Banks Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Wheatley. The Branscumb, Johnson and Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley is in charge of all arrangements.
