Mr. James Hicks Jr., age 70 of Forrest City, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mr. Hicks was born on March 17, 1934, in Madison. He was a retired cabinet refinisher with Sanyo Manufacturing Corp.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Essie Mae Hicks of Forrest City; his father, James Hicks Sr. of Madison; two daughters, Mildred Boyd of Forrest City and Johnnie Culp of Marianna; two step-daughters, Lorita Barton and Sandra Taylor both of Forrest City; two step-sons, Leroy Reed Jr. and Louie Reed both of Forrest City. He is also survived by four brothers, Willie Hicks of Madison, Charles Hicks of Cleveland, Miss., Adolphus Hicks of Helena and Clarence Hicks of North Little Rock; six sisters, Annie Lee Robinson of Madison, Roberta Lewellyn, Lula Holmes and Josie Bunch all of Houston, Texas, Loretta Sanders of Kansas City, Mo. and Dora Cheers of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Hicks will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cornerstone M.B. Church with Rev. Willie C. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.
