Augusta T. Baker

Mrs. Augusta T. Baker, age 78, of Forrest City, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.

Mrs. Baker was born Nov. 12, 1925, in Round Pond. She was a retired cook and is survived by her husband, Johnnie Baker of Memphis; five sons, Larry Baker of Anniston, Ala., James Baker, Levon Baker and Melvin Baker all of Memphis, and Johnnie Baker Jr. of Forrest City; three daughters, Eunice Cox and Cynthia Marshall both of Memphis and Doris Jefferies of Harvey, Ill. She is also survived by a brother, Tom Thomas Jr. of Compton, Calif.; three sisters, Lucinda Johnson of Forrest City, Stella Barton of Compton, Calif. and Gracie Dudley of Cleveland, Ohio; 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Baker will be held on Friday, May 14, 2004, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home and on Saturday, May 15, 2004, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Beth Salem Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Oscar Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.


Matilda Mae Kidd

Mrs. Matilda Mae Kidd, age 63, of Forrest City, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Mrs. Kidd was born May 24, 1940, in Forrest City. She was a certified nurses assistant at Crestpark Retirement Inn.

Mrs. Kidd is survived by four sons, Nathaniel Kidd, Jimmie Lee Kidd and Jerome Lorenzo Kidd all of Forrest City and Grady Kidd Jr. of Triangle, Va.; two daughters, Brenda Morris and Linda Johnson both of Forrest City; a brother, Jim Johnson of Forrest City; a sister, Ann Woods of Forrest City; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Kidd will be held on Friday, May 14, 2004, from 1 to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 3 p.m., at Lane Chapel CME Church with Rev. Ronald Broussard officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.
