Beulah "Snooks" Brawner

Mrs. Beulah "Snooks" Brawner, age 88, of Colt, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at her home.

Mrs. Brawner was born July 12, 1915, in Colt, the daughter of Claude Coker Hamilton and Elzaide Dempsey Hamilton. She lived in Colt for most of her life and was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church in Forrest City.

Mrs. Brawner is survived by a daughter, Bettye Clay Spann of Colt, a brother, William Brice "Sonny" Hamilton of Colt; a sister, Claudia Pulliam of Clinton; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Brawner; a son Randal Eugene Brawner and two sisters, Hazel Thayer and Kathleen Bianki.

Visitation for Mrs. Brawner will be held for on Friday, May 21, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, May 22, 2004, in the Chapel of Kernodle Funeral Home in Wynne with Rev. Ed Addison officiating. Burial will follow in Loughridge Cemetery in Colt.

The family requests that memorials be sent to New Prospect Baptist Church care of Darrel Neeley, 5981 Highway 284, Forrest City, AR 72335.


Murice Schmitz Murphy

Mrs. Murice Schmitz Murphy, age 87, of Little Rock, died Sunday, May 9, 2004.

Mrs. Murphy was born Dec. 2, 1916, in Kevil, the daughter of William Schmitz and Maude Howard Schmitz. She was a resident of Forrest City for many years before moving to Little Rock. She was employed by the Employment Security Division for 38 years having worked in the Forrest City office for many years. She was also a member of the Pulaski County Election Committee and the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.

Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, V.A. Murphy and is survived by two daughters, Fredi Brown of Hot Springs and Sandy Allen of Memphis; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Susan Beatrice Schmitz and Mabel Schmitz DeVazier; two brothers, William Schmitz and Loyce Schmitz and two nephews

Funeral services were held graveside on Thursday, May 13, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander under the direction of Griffin Leggett Forest Hills.
