Mr. Virgil Ottie "Ott" Hooker, age 83, of Palestine, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Hooker was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Altus, the son of William Henry Hooker and Rosie Blanscett Hooker. Mr. Hooker had made his home in Palestine for most of his life and was a retired farmer. He was also a member of the Goodwin Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and served on the Farm Bureau Board.
Mr. Hooker married Dora Brown in 1947 and she survives him along with one son, David "Sweetie" Hooker of Palestine and two grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Hooker will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Stevens Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with Don McCormick, J.E. Hughes and Danny Veteto officiating. Burial will follow in Goodwin Cemetery.
Mrs. Vanzelena Smith Tribett, age 85, of Forrest City, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Crestpark Retirement Inn.
Mrs. Tribett was born April 13, 1919, the daughter of William Smith and Annie Reed. She was retired from the Dr. Roy Hospital and Forrest Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Tribett is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Tribett Sr. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Marilyn Coleman of Rochester, N.Y.; a stepson, Charlie Tribett Jr. of South Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Tribett will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, from 12 to 5 p.m. and a wake will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., both at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at the Spring Grove Baptist Church in Haynes with Rev. Cecil Coleman officiating, Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
