Charlie Brown

Mr. Charlie Brown, age 72, of Forrest City, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at his home. Mr. Brown was born March 15, 1932, the son of Henry Brown Sr. and Katie Maldenia Perry Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by three daughters, Annette Brown, Vernette Brown and Johnnie Mae Kitcher all of Stockton, Calif.; a son, Floyd Brown of Little Rock; and three sisters, Thelma Coleman of Los Angeles, Calif., Delores Tyler of Memphis and Tolise Brown of St. Louis. She is also survived by five brothers, Henry Brown Jr., Andrew Brown, Winston Brown, Silas Brown and Houston Brown all of Forrest City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Brown will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Cornerstone M.B. Church with Rev. Ray Peels officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.


Nora Nadine Lewis

Mrs. Nora Nadine Lewis, age 73, of Palestine, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Lewis was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Antioch, the daughter of Charles Russell and Bessie Beasley Russell. She lived in Palestine for most of her life, was a housewife and a member of the Midway Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lewis married James Lewis in 1950, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by three sons, Dale Lewis and Lloyd Lewis, both of Palestine and David Lewis of Florida; and four daughters, Christina Mae Caskey of Palestine, Denise Parker of Hunter, Lila Lewis of Newport and Debbie Lewis of Minnesota. She is also survived by four brothers, Charles Russell of North Carolina, Richard Russell of California, Wayne Russell of Fayetteville and Lloyd Russell of Nevada; two sisters, Eloise Russell of Bald Knob and Betty Russell of California; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Lewis will be held on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held graveside at Whittaker Cemetery in Hoxie on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at 11 a.m.
