Mrs. Peggy Louise Burns, age 70, of Sharon, Tenn., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Jackson Madison County Hospital in Jackson, Tenn.
Mrs. Burns was born July 19, 1934, in Caldwell, the daughter of Allison Bowen Brown and Mildred Lorene Clark Brown. Mrs. Burns had lived in Memphis, Paris, Ill. and Ruston, La. She was a member of the Baptist Temple Baptist Church in Ruston and was also a member of Cosmos Club and the New Comers Club. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Burns married Finis H. Burns in 1952 and he survives her along with a daughter, Phyllis Hazlewood of Martin, Tenn.; two sons, Mark Burns of Ruston, La. and David Burns of Homer, Ill.; two sisters, Janice Fischvogt of Hot Springs and Carolyn Warren of Stamps; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Finis Herbert Burns Jr. in 1953.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Forrest City with Rev. Dale Oden of Ruston, La. officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Mrs. Opal Graham Moore, age 75, of Palestine, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Moore was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Harrisburg, the daughter of Ruben Cleo Graham and Mary Jane Taylor Graham. Mrs. Moore had lived in Palestine for most of her life, worked for General Industries for 33 years and was a Baptist.
Mrs. Moore married J.E. Moore in 1946 and he survives her along with a daughter, Shirley Castleberry of Plumerville; three sons, James Thomas Moore and Jerrold Moore both of Palestine and John Edward Moore of Orange, Texas; three sisters, Juanita Turpen of Marked Tree, Jeanette Morris of Desert Hot Springs, Calif. and Mary Kay Shinault of Scottsdale, Mo. She is also survived by two brothers, R.C. Graham of Scottsdale, Mo. and Jack Graham of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mrs. Moore will be held on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the Twin Assembly of God Church in Palestine. Burial will follow in Bell Cemetery.
