Ernest A. Tyler

Mr. Ernest A. Tyler, age 71, of Memphis, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.

Mr. Tyler, was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Brownville Tenn., the son of Walter M. Tyler and Ernestine Allen Tyler. He lived in Memphis for most of his life and was a retired supervisor for the ETMF. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and Loyal Order of Moose and was a member of the Bartlett United Methodist Church.

Mr. Tyler married Waneta Long in 1959 and she survives him along with a host of friends.

Visitation for Mr. Tyler was held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services were held graveside following visitation at Forrest Park Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Bartlett United Methodist Church or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.


Ida Lee Velma

Mrs. Ida Lee Velma, age 77, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

Mrs. Velma was born May 30, 1927, in Hughes. She was a retired cook from Watkins Cafe.

She is survived by five sons, Henry Velma of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cornelius Velma of Texas, Lewis Velma and Joe Velma both of Forrest City and Leotis Velma of Madison; three daughters, Lula Mae Velma of Tulsa, Okla., Martha Gene McKinley of Texas and Florida Mae Velma of Jonesboro; a brother, Tommie Lee Wilson of Widener; two sisters, Doris Cannaday and Dollie Lawson both of Forrest City and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Mrs. Velma will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.


James Garland Wilson

Mr. James Garland Wilson, 57, of Benton died on August 31, 2004. He was born on June 8, 1947 to Mary Jane Pope Wilson and Samuel David Wilson of Forrest City.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Connie Wilson; his sister, Mary Anne Rosamond also of Forrest City; his brother, Gene Wilson of Lebanon, Tennessee; and his daughter, Michelle Bashore, son-in-law, Steve Bashore and granddaughter, Ashlyn, 8, of Miami, Oklahoma.

Jim was an Eagle Scout; served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, and enjoyed playing golf. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.

There will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Ashby's Funeral Home in Benton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jack Stephens Youth Golf Academy c/o The First Tee of Arkansas, #1 First Tee Way, Little Rock, AR. 72204.
