Mr. Joe Hill, age 81, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Crestpark Skilled Nursing Home in Forrest City.
Mr. Hill was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Palestine, the son of Joseph M. Hill and Lillie Swiney Hill. He had lived in Springfield, was a farmer, was retired from Airtherm, a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church.
Mr. Hill married Dicie F. Cleaver in 1942 and she survives him along with two sons, J.C. Hill of Palestine and Raymond Hill of Springfield; two daughters, Jean Takeya of Palestine and Willa Rial of Texas; a sister, Lillie D. Wilson of Searcy; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hill were held on Monday, Sept. 13,
2004, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Graveside
services followed at 2:30 p.m. in the Culpepper Cemetery in Clinton.
Mrs. Anita D. Wingo, age 86, of Palestine, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
Mrs. Wingo was born Dec. 21, 1917, in Forrest City, the daughter of Norman Dennis and Emma Cavanaugh Dennis. She had made her home in Palestine all of her life, was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Wingo married James H. "Jim" Wingo in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1995. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Wingo of Palestine; three sons, Ronnie Wingo of Searcy, Jimmy Wingo of Palestine and Gene Wingo of Palestine; one sister, Emily Burns of Palestine; and a brother, Charles Dennis of St. Louis, Mo. She is also survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Wingo, in 1993.
Visitation for Mrs. Wingo will be held on Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Stevens Funeral Home at 10 a.m., Burial will follow in Bell Cemetery in Palestine with Bro. Leon Wolfe officiating.
