Odysseus "O.D." Dawson

Mr. Odysseus "O.D." Dawson, age 72, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Sept, 9, 2004, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1932, in Madison. He was a retired assembler.

Mr. Dawson is survived by six sons, Ronald Dawson of Chicago, Ill., Ricky Dawson of Colt, Richard Dawson of Little Rock, Randell Dawson, Odysseus Dawson Jr. and Cornelius Dawson all of Forrest City; and three daughters, Lillie Suggs, Yolanda Dawson and Stacy Gates all of Forrest City. She is also survived by a brother, Arturo Young of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Zola Tomlin and Magnolia Whiter, both of Forrest City; 19 grandchildren; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Dawson will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, from 1 to 5 p.m., at Clay Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at 2 p.m., at the Rising Sun M.B. Church with Elder Joseph Berry officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Madison.


Dora Hazel Hamlett

Mrs. Dora Hazel Hamlett, age 74, of Marvell, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Helena.

Mrs. Hamlett was born June 7, 1930, in Parkin, the daughter of Robert Young Grantham and Carrie Brown Grantham. She was a member of the County Line M.B. Church in Marvell, was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress at Bobbie Brooks in Helena.

Mrs. Hamlett is survived by a son, Percy Hamlett III of Monroe, La.; a daughter, Pam Graham of Oneida; three brothers, Robert Grantham and Herndon Grantham both of California and John Lee Grantham of Conway; two sisters, Ida Mae Kilpatrick and Jeweline Guest, both of Marvell; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, P.L. Hamlett Jr. and a daughter, Ellen Lanetta Smith.

Visitation for Mrs. Hamlett will be held on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the County Line M.B. Church in Marvell. Funeral services will be held graveside on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at 10 a.m. at the Marvell Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
