Hazel Rea Sanford Thompson

Mrs. Hazel Rea Sanford Thompson, age 92, of Ash Flat and formerly of Colt, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Thompson was born May 28, 1912, in New Albany, Miss., the daughter of Jasper Newton and Ollie Beaty Sanford. She was a homemaker, sold Blaire products for over 40 years and was a member of the Saddle Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thompson married Thead Garland Thompson in 1925 and he preceded her in death in 1963. She is survived by three sons, Donald Burtram of Ash Flat, Dale Thompson of Camp and Larry Thompson of Widener; five daughters, Evelyn West of Mantachie, Miss, Sue Bates of Ash Flat, Gayle Watlington of Williford, Phyllis Cowan of Melbourne and Joy Hudspeth of Hurst, Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Jasper Lewis, Waymon Thompson and Murriel Thompson; two daughters, Syble Thompson and Helen Thompson; three sisters, Huey Burtram, Enner Mae Collins and Brooksie Clayton; and one brother, William Sanford.

Visitation for Mrs. Thompson will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at 11 a.m., at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne with Bro. J.T. Baskins and Bro. Gary Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery.
