Mr. S.T. Logan, age 72, of Forrest City, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Logan was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Forrest City, the son of Perry Logan and Annie Mae Porter Logan. He was retiree from the Forrest City Sanitation Department after 25 years.
Mr. Logan is survived by his wife, Evelyn Patton Logan of Forrest City; five sisters, Dorothy McCoy, Ruby Burton and Tanet Tates all of Benton Harbor, Mich., Mary Nelson of Chicago, Ill. and Louise Evans of South Bend, Ind.; four brothers, Willie Vances of Chicago, Ill., Curtis Vances of Michigan, Jessie Mathew of Corpus Christi, Texas and G.W. Holloway of New Mexico. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a son Anthony Logan in 2002.
Visitation for Mr. Logan will be held on Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Woodhouse Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Calvary M.B. Church with Elder Scott Logan officiating. Burial will follow in Casteel Cemetery.
Mrs. Marie H. Mattioli, age 69, of Marietta, Ga. and former longtime resident of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004.
Mrs. Mattioli was born March 3, 1935, in Palestine, the daughter of William Hurt and Kate Harris Hurt. She and her husband managed the Forrest City Country Club and Paragould Country Club. She was a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Marietta, Ga.
Mrs. Mattioli married Roger Mattioli in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Mattioli East of Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Marguerite Frost of North Little Rock; and three grandchildren.
A rosary will be held at Stevens Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at 10 a.m., at the St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.
