Mr. Ronald Jones, age 49, of Forrest City, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Jones, born July 23, 1955, in Forrest City, was the son of Lawson Jones and Lou Renfro Jackson. He lived in St. Francis County for most of his life and was a sales representative for Wonder Bread Company. Mr. Jones was also a member of the Oak Hill Church of God.
Mr. Jones is survived by one son, Mitchell Jones of Memphis; four daughters, Amanda Jones of Memphis, Crystal Mathes and Jessica Jones, both of Palestine and Becky Walker of Moro; his father, Lawson Jones of Shirley; his mother Lou Jackson of Forrest City; his maternal grandmother, Agnes Renfro; seven brothers, Tony Jackson of Forrest City; Chuck Jackson of Memphis, Bobby Jones, Rodney Jones, Robbie Jones, Shane Jones and Shannon Jones, all of Illinois; three sisters Sherry Jones of Fairfield Bay, Theresa Jones of Illinois and Tammy Jones of Shirley and six grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones were held Monday, Sept. 27,
2004, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Church of God. Burial followed in
Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Murtha Davis Ellis, age 87, of Toledo, Ohio, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Northwest Hospital.
Mrs. Ellis, formerly of Madison, was born May 10, 1917 in Mississippi. She was the daughter of Willie Davis and Annie Stewart Davis and is survived by two daughters, Gloria McDonald of Toledo, Ohio and Annie Goodwin of Madison; one son, Rupert Ellis of Madison; 23 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ellis.
Visitation for Mrs. Ellis will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodhouse Mortuary. A wake will follow visitation from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services for Mrs. Ellis will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Travis Frank officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest City Cemetery.
