All in all, it was good night for the future of the Forrest City Mustang football program.
Hosting Wynne, the seventh-grade Colts battled to a tie and the eighth-grade Colts used a late touchdown to get a win at Sam Smith Stadium.
Running back Arthur Franks set the tone early for the Colt seventh graders when he broke loose for a 70-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.
The two-point try failed but the Colts led 6-0.
It was Franks' only score of he game, but it proved to be vital in the end.

A Forrest City fumble, recovered by Wynne midway through the second half would set up the Junior Bees go-ahead touchdown, a 35-yard run with 3:37 to play. The two-point run ws good and Wynne led 14-6.
The Colts answered quickly with a 70-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Barrett Astin to a streaking Tevin Hughes who caught the pass in stride at the 30 and outran the defenders for the score.
Franks added the two point run to tie the game at 14-14, which is how it ended.
Astin's pass covered 40 yards in the air before Hughes hauled it in for the score.
"We'll take the tie," said Forrest City Coach Lewis Etheridge. "We have some talent out here and we have some good kids who are working hard every day and having fun playing football."
The Colts are 1-0-1 after two games and will host West Memphis West on Sept. 21.

Lee Smith ran for a 20-yard touchdown with 10 seconds to play in the eighth grade game against Wynne to break a 16-16 tie and give Forrest City a 22-16 win.
It was the first win of the season for the eighth-garde Colts.
Smith's run came after two incomplete passing attempts, both intended for Barrett Beshears, who earlier had caught a 49-yard scoring pass from quarterback Joey Bonds which helped the eighth graders tie the game at 16-16.
Forrest City's effort was solid on both sides of the ball with the exception of five fumbles -- three of those recovered by Wynne.
"I think only one fumble was actually caused by a hit," said Forrest City Coach Rich Trail. "The others we just dropped in in the open field. We just do a very good job of protecting the football."
Wynne struck first, scoring from a yard out with 1:04 to play in the opening quarter and the two-point run made it 8-0.
The eighth grade Mustangs fumbled on the first play of the second quarter and Wynne recovered but were stopped on a fourth and one, giving the ball back to Forrest City with 3:39 to play in the half.
Smith tied the game with a 19-yard touchdown run witrh 1:02 to play and Antonio Mitchell's two-point run made it 8-8 which stood through the half.
The second half was a mirror image of the first for Forrest City when the Mustangs fumbled on the first play from scrimmage and Wynne recovered at the Forrest City 30.
One play later, Wynne used a 30-yard run straight up the middle and a two-point pass to go ahead 16-8.
Forrest City stopped Wynne after forcing the Bees into a fourth and long situation and took over possession with less than a minute to play in the third quarter.

Forrest City improves to 1-1 for the year.
Jonesboro defeated West Memphis in high school golf at RidgePointe Country Club Tuesday. Jonesboro finished with a team score of 301, 32 strokes better than the Blue Devils.
Stephen Cox led Jonesboro, firing an even-par 72. Nathan French shot 73 and Willie Little had a 74.
The low man for West Memphis was Jordan Payne, with a 77.
Jonesboro improved to 6-0 and go to Conway today for a tri-match against Conway and Little Rock Catholic.
*Pocahontas' Jonathan Madison shot a 36 to earn medalist honors as the Redskins' golf team won a four-team match Tuesday afternoon at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Blair Green of Pocahontas led the girls, who competed individually, with a 43.
Pocahontas finished the day six strokes ahead of Nettleton with a winning score of 115. Nettleton shot 121 while Cave City was third at 146 and Hoxie fourth at 158.
*The Forrest City Mustang golf team will return to the course Thursday when they travel to West Helena.
The Mustangs defeated Helena last week in the first meeting.
