The Forrest City seventh-grade Colts pitched their second shutout of the season Tuesday night to remain undefeated.
The Colts blanked West Memphis West 18-0 at Sam Smith Stadium and improve to 2-0-1 for the year.
The Colts shut out West Memphis East 16-0 in the opener two weeks ago.
Arthur Franks got the offense going for the Colts in the first half when he broke for a 40-yard touchdown run and then added the two-point run for an 8-0 Forrest City lead.
A Forrest City safety just before the half gave the Colts a 10-0 cushion to start the second half.
Tevin Hughes, whose 70-yard touchdown pass reception last week gave the Colts a 14-14 tie against Wynne last week, put the game out of reach Tuesday with his 95-yard touchdown run early in the second half. Franks added the two point run for the 18-0 lead.
"It was great job and a good win," said Colts Coach Lewis Etheridge. "The kids are coming along. We even tried to throw it some today. We got two picked off but that's part of it. The defense did what we asked and we have our second shut out."
Etheridge singled out Tillman Mason and Eli Wall on defense but credited the entire defensive unit.
The eighth-grade Colts fell to 1-2 Tuesday after losing to West Memphis West 34-14 at Sam Smith.
The game was a shoot out until the fourth quarter when West put up two touchdowns to turn an 18-14 lead into the final score.
West led 6-0 early before Forrest City quarterback Joey Bonds hit Gerald Williams in stride for a 68-yard touchdown pass with 4:13 to play in the second quarter. Martello Smith added the two-point run and the Colts led 8-6.
West regained the advantage at the half, 12-8, using a 17-yard touchdown pass, which was tipped at the goal line by Findley Scott Laws into the West receiver's hands. Barrett Beshears batted away the two-point pass.
Forrest City took a 14-12 lead early in the third quarter when Smith broke free for a 58-yard scoring run with 5:14 to play.
Smith was stopped short on the two-point try.
A 33-yard touchdown run by West with 1:18 to play in the third put West back in front 18-14.
West used a reverse to move to the Forrest City 28 with 3:20 to play in the fourth but were stopped on the next two plays for no gain. On a fourth and 12, following a penalty, West completed a 36-yard pass and added the two-point run for a 26-14 lead.
West tacked on their final touchdown after Forrest City began wholesale substitutions. A fumbled snap was recovered and returned by West for the final touchdown.
The seventh and eighth-grade teams will make their first road trip next week when they travel to Wynne.
The Forrest City Junior Mustangs will host West Memphis Wonder Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m.
