The St. Francis County Extension Service held a program on jams and jellies this morning called “Sweet Success.” The session was held at the First United Methodist Church activity center. Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Holly Valentine, left, speaks to those in attendance about safety in canning to prevent harmful bacteria from growing. Continuing from left are Debbie Hatcher, Janet Brooks, Linda Hassler, Lee O’Banion and Butch Murray. More sessions regarding food preservation are planned by the extension service, including one on Thursday, June 28, from 8:30 a.m. until noon on waterbath methods. Contact Valentine at 261-1730 for more information. Photo by Alan Smith.
