Missed the turn

Morning rains played a role in an accident at the intersection of Newcastle and Arkansas streets on Monday. An accident report on file at the Forrest City Police Department shows that Hunter Barnes, 17, 297 SFC 548, Forrest City, was driving south on Newcastle when he attempted to turn right onto Arkansas, but the wet asphalt caused his 2002 Jeep to skid into a ditch about 11 a.m. The vehicle received $3,000 damage, and one of three passengers, Megan McGee, 15, was transported to Forrest City Medical Center.
