Accident closes I-40 for nine hours after paint product leaks onto roadway

Severe burns: Emergency crews load a man, who set himself on fire while smoking Wednesday morning at a local residential care facility, into a helicopter for transport to a Memphis hospital. Little information is available on the incident, but a press release from Forrest Hills Residential Care Facility on Lindauer Road reveals the man was in a designated smoking area outside the building when the incident occurred, but privacy laws prevent them from discussing it in detail. Because the man’s name was not released, his condition could not be checked at press time, but early reports Wednesday suggested he suffered second- and third-degree burns to his legs.
