Signs of spring

In spite of the chilly weather experienced locally, signs of spring have been popping up. Daffodils, for instance, have been blooming in many places for quite some time, a reminder that winter can’t last forever. Photo by David Nichol.

Weather prep

Predicted winter weather today into Saturday morning had the Forrest City Street Department on alert this morning. Floyd Patton, Forrest City Public Works director, said the city is ready for any problems on the roadways. Patton looks over one of the city’s sand spreaders while surrounded by sand. Black history

I-40 accident

An accident involving as many as six vehicles occurred at the 247 mile marker of Interstate 40 just past the St. Francis County Bridge in the westbound lanes. Law enforcement officials were forced to close down the interstate at least twice during the incident. Lyon signee 2/27
