Rehearsing 3/6

Fans of madcap comedy will want to attend Forrest City High School’s presentation of the play “The Absent Minded Professor” by L. Verne Slout on Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8, at 6 p.m., in the school’s Lecture Hall. The play centers around a pair of thieves who steal a statue and hide it in a cabin by a lake. What they don’t know is that a birthday party is being planned for the professor at the seemingly empty cabin. Through some acting by one of the party guests, the thieves believe the statue has come to life. Students rehearsing for the play, from left, are: Tucker Haney as the Professor, Jordan Nosler as Snatch, Ryan Putt as Barr and Cedra Coleman as Imogene. Tickets are $3.

Pool crunched

An incident gave new meaning to the term, “car pool” this morning at the home of Kathy Stewart at 625 Village Street. A car driven down an alley behind the house crashed through a chain link fence, did some damage to a shed and demolished an above-ground pool in the back yard. The driver, Jacqueline Parker, 45, of 929 Cherry, said she lost control of the car. No one was injured. Photo by David Nichol.
