Fundraiser for Foundation

Several of the participants in the third annual East Arkansas Community College golf tournament stand on the putting green and in front of the 2013 GMC Terrain, donated by Dalton Motors of Marianna,  which was one of prizes for the tournament’s Hole-In-One Contests. Swerved into pole

A Cotton Plant woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon after her vehicle struck an electric pole on North Washington Street. According to a police report, Marie Caffey, 68, was traveling north on North Washington when she swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid striking a vehicle in front of her. Caffey then swerved again to avoid an oncoming vehicle and struck the pole. Police reported she was transported to Forrest City Medical Center for treatment. Photo by Kendall Owens.

 

 

Safe at home

Newest Brewer

Forrest City native Barrett Astin and former Arkansas Razorback pitches in an SEC games played earlier this season. On Friday, Astin was drafted in the third round by the Milwaukee Brewers and signed a contract with the NL organization Saturday morning in Little Rock.

Open houses held

Two  open houses were held today for centers of learning at East Arkansas Community College – the Transportation and Technology center on North Washington, and the Allied Health Center on the EACC campus. In the photo at left, Brett Hartman, diesel instructor, shows Jessica Higginbothom, director of Continuing Education, an engine that students constructed using parts from four junked engines at the Transportation and Technology Center. at right, Janie Bailey, vice president of Academic Affairs, shows a mannequin to John Stipe, a member of the EACC Board of Trustees, at the Allied Health Center.

Drugs confiscated

Tourney time

The Third Annual East Arkansas Community College Golf Tournament will be held Monday at the Forrest City Country Club. Tee times are at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the EACC Foundation. Power Camp

Six college student athletes and FCA members will be at Mustang Arena next week to serve as counselors for the FCA Power Camp, which runs June 10-13.
