Heavy downpour: A deluge Friday forced motorists on West Broadway to slow their travel briefly as they drove under the railroad overpass near Mallory Road. Water collects in that area, and while some drivers send water splashing, others slow to a crawl as they tread the pool. Photo by Kendall Owens.
Memorabilia: There was country singing on the front porch of the William Stone House Friday and country music memorabilia inside. Mildred Thomas and Gene Thomas are two of many people who enjoyed looking at the items on display during the annual Colt Pioneer Days this weekend. More photos from Pioneer Days can be found in the print edition of today’s Times-Herald. Photo by Kendall Owens.

Studying cells: Fourth graders at Central Elementary School recently completed a science project by building models of plant and animals cells. Jackson Quattlebaum, a student in Sarah Jumper’s class, holds his unique model. Quattlebaum used half a watermelon, half a peach, grapes, carrot sticks, a banana and beans to represent the different parts that make up a cell. Photo by Alan Smith.
