Accident at intersection: Pictured is one of the cars involved in an accident at the intersection of Washington and Broadway Thursday just before noon. According to statements from both drivers and a witness, a car driven by Ernestine Weaver, 68, of 2116 Peevey was sitting a a red light, and when the light turned green, pulled out into the intersection where she was struck by the car above, which was driven by Lois Lawana Scott, 30, of 134 Gregory in Forrest City. Scott stated that she had looked down, and when she looked up, the light had turned red. Weaver was taken to Forrest City Medical Center and later released. Photo by David Nichol.

The office may be the coldest part of the building, but space heaters are being used in several classrooms as attempts are made to solve the puzzle surrounding brand-new heating units that don’t work. Gunshots: Several bullet holes are clearly visible in this Dodge Durango driven by St. Francis County Deputy Travis Jackson early today as he responded to a disturbance call on Highway 261 south of Palestine.
