Blue and Green Day

 

Several employees at the St. Francis County Courthouse today participated in National Blue and Green Day. The employees wore blue and green to show support for organ donation. Ginadell Adams, left, who organized the local event, said she did so to honor local organ recipients including her sister, Allison Fogg, a two-time heart transplant recipient, and Brittney Tracy, also a heart transplant recipient. New elementary building

The Palestine-Wheatley School District hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for its new elementary campus Thursday night in Palestine. Superintendent Jon Estes was one of several speakers during the event which featured a tour of the new building, a performance by the school district’s band and refreshments for students, parents, staff and patrons.  Photo by Kendall Owens.

 

 

Career options

East Arkansas Community College held a College and Career Day on Thursday as part of its week-long Spring Fling event. Good weather for swinging

Overloaded trailer overturns

Traffic traveling on North Washington Street near the Highway 1 Bypass was slowed on Wednesday after a pickup hauling a trailer loaded with large pieces of wood jackknifed and ended up in a ditch. Pieces of the wood were scattered across the roadway and in the ditch. Details on the driver or if anyone was injured in the accident were not available as of press time. Photo by Alan Smith.

Firefighters with the Forrest City Fire Department were called to this house fire at 124 Cisco Street about 7:45 this morning. Complete details were not available as of press time; however, officials with the FCFD said the occupant of the home was Talisha Pearson. The owner of the property is listed as Orlean Smith.
